Denver Dentist White dental fillings (303) 694-9740

White Dental fillings Denver Dentist

White dental fillings are becoming the staple of this Denver dentists dental office. It is replacing in many (but not all) instances the old silver amalgam restorations. The amalgam restoration was composed of two metals mercury and silver plus some other trace elements. Since mercury was combined with silver it does not have the same toxic effects that mercury would have by itself. The current ADA opinion is that is that it is save to use with patients. Denver Dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp provide a variety of dental services to their patients in the Highlands Ranch, Castle Pines, Parker. Ken Caryl, Lone Tree, and Greenwood Village areas of Colorado. Please feel free to contact their office at (303) 694-9740.

Old amalgam fillings turn black in time

Our Denver Dentist has seen many examples of silver amalgam restorations breaking down and turning black in time. This blackness in part is due to corrosion of the silver in the amalgam formula. As the filling breaks away bacteria can percolate down between the silver filling and the tooth structure resulting in a cavity (decay) under the dental filling. Most of the time we cannot tell how much cavity is under the dental filling until we remove it . What we hope for is none to minimal but at times the decay can be substantial.

Dental implants in the upper jaw Denver Dentistry

Dental implants in the Maxilla (upper jaw) Denver Dentist

Dental implants in the upper jaw are not as statically successful as those implants placed in the lower jaw. Our Denver implants dentists seek to explain why this is seen in so many patients. The two reasons are the bone is not as hard (dense) and the maxillary sinus is frequently in the area. Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp are Denver dentists who also serve patients residing in the Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Parker, Centennial and Greenwood Village area.

Quality and Quantity of Maxillary Bone

When evaluation an area to place a dental implant our Denver dentist look for the area that will have the best quality and quantity of bone and is in a place that is appropriate. I certain instances it is readily apparent that the bone "appears" to be of sufficient quality and quantity to place a dental implant. If the area is lacking then a decision needs to be made whether to proceed with and implant or do you need to have some type of bone grafting in the area to improve the quality of the bone.

Maxillary sinus and Dental Implant Placement

For many (maybe even most) patients the sinus is only a consideration not necessarily a contraindication for dental implant placement. If the sinus balloons (pneumatization) your choice would be a sinus lift with bone grafting or choosing another way to replace the missing tooth.

Dental Implants Preserve Your Bone

When a tooth is extracted the bone resorbs (melts away) over time. It appears that the tooth root is a stimulus for preserving the bone in the area. Implant dentists have found that dental implants act similarly to the tooth root. Placing the dental implant and loading it (having it in function) preserves bone. One thing to consider if you choose to have a sinus lift and bone grafting you need to have the implant placed once healing has been accomplished. If you choose not to the bone may resorb away with time necessitating another sinus lift and bone graft.

Dental Implants Denver Dentist

Denver Dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp attended the Denver Implant Study Club meeting on February 19th at the MDDS building. The course was entitled Direct loading of dental implants indications and contraindications. In this course there are a few instances in which dental implants "may" be loaded immediately. This course helps give all dentists an idea of which cases may be handled in this manner. These Denver dentists serve the , Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Parker, Centennial Greenwood Village, and Ken Caryl area.

Ankylos by Dentsply is a particular type of dental implant that whose design is made to be loaded immediately (in some... not all cases). Each manufacturer dental implants have pluses and minuses and no one system seems for fulfill all dental needs. Getting a broad spectrum of dental implant systems gives us the best opportunity to select the best implant system for our Denver Dental patients.

In this course it was discussed that four (4) Ankylos dental implants may allow for immediate placement and loading of the denture. The taper of the abutment increases or decreases the retention of the removable denture. These abutments can be changed our as needed in each individual case.

Invisalign Denver

Denver Invisalign orthodontics. What is it?

Invisalign is a series of "aligners" (clear retainers) that patientschange about every two weeks. Each of these Invisalign aligners is manufactured by complex CAD/CAM technology to move your teeth in very small increments (0.25mm or less). This allows us to move your teeth in a very predictable manner.

Invisalign clear removable braces are a custom fit guide to give you a straighter smile. Dr. H. Candace DeLapp and Dr. James DeLapp, Denver Invisalign dentists, provide this orthodontic treatment to patients in the Castle Pines, Lone Tree, Centennial, Denver and Parker Colorado area. They can be reached at (303) 694-9740.

If you would like to send them an e-mail click the following link Denver Invisalign

Benefits of Invisalign from our Denver area Invisalign office

Benefits of Invisalign includes but is not limited to:

  • The Invisalign retainers (aligners) are removable.

  • The retainers made by Invisalign are customized for you by sophisticated CAD/CAM technology.

  • Dental patients feel the Invisalign aligners are comfortable to wear and speak with.

  • Invisalign has made their aligners clear and "nearly" invisible.

  • Aligners made by Invisalign allow the dental patient to brush and floss normally.

  • There are no metal brackets, wires, or bands with Invisalign retainers.

  • Invisalign not only has cosmetic advantages... but it promotes general dental health. Straighter teeth are much easier to brush and floss. It is like trying to paint a picket fence when the pickets are in a neat row or a fence with pickets skewed in all sorts of different directions.
Invisalign's advantages "can" include but not limited to:

  • Reduction in cavities especially between your teeth because plaque and calculus are easier to remove from straight teeth.

  • Your periodontal health (gums) can become healthier. Gum disease (periodontal disease... gingivitis) can be worsened by teeth that are crowded or with wide gaps.

  • Since you can remove the Invisalign aligners.... it is much easier to brush and floss when compared to traditional braces.

  • With traditional braces you need to use a floss threader to get under the arch wire which most dental patients feel is time consuming...less effective... and frustrating.

Since Invisalign retainers do not use metal brackets, wires, and rubber bands... food does not trap as much. Invisalign makes your dental cleanings more comfortable and reduces the risk of plaque/calculus buildup... tooth decay (cavities) and gum disease (periodontal disease).

Please feel free to contact our Denver Invisalign Dental office to schedule an appointment to see if Invisalign Dental Orthodontics is for you. If you are curious and would like to simply discuss the possibilities of this method of straightening your teeth ...please feel free to contact our Denver area Invisalign Dental office for a no charge initial dental consultation. We can be reached at (303) 694-9740.
